Here is an all-day itinerary that will take you on a journey to explore some of the most spectacular natural wonders in Rethymno.

Kourtaliotiko Gorge

Start your day with a drive to Kourtaliotiko Gorge, one of the most stunning natural wonders of Crete. It is located about 22 km south of Rethymno, and it takes around 30 minutes to drive there. Drive through it and stop at the rest stop to gaze some of the most impressive gorges in Crete.  

Kourtaliotiko Waterfall

Kourtaliotiko Waterfall is a breathtaking natural wonder and is part of the Kourtaliotiko River. The waterfall cascades down a steep cliff and into a deep pool, surrounded by lush greenery and towering rock formations. Visitors can hike to the waterfall (although easier said than done) and swim in the refreshing freezing cold waters, or simply take in the stunning views from a nearby viewing platform. Kourtaliotiko Waterfall is a must-see destination for nature lovers and adventurers alike. 

Preveli Beach

After exploring Kourtaliotiko Gorge, it is time to head to Preveli Beach, one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. The beach is located about 14 km from the gorge, and it takes around 25 minutes to drive there. The beach is known for its turquoise blue waters, white sand, and palm trees.

Preveli Palm Forest

Next stop is the Preveli Palm Forest, another must-visit destination. The forest features a scenic river with a beautiful palm tree-lined shore that leads to a picturesque beach.
