The Historical Museum of Crete is located in Heraklion and very close to the Natural History Museum. It is housed in a beautiful neoclassical building the A. & M. Kalokairinos House constructed in 1903.
The museum presents a large collection of items from the early Christian times to the present day covering a time period of 1700 years. They include ceramics, sculptures, coins, manuscripts, as well as jewelry and wall paintings and a beautifully reconstructed interior of a traditional Cretan home.
